Here at the 5 Senses Spa we have created a welcoming and relaxing environment for you to enjoy the fundamental principle of SPA.
Situated within walking distance of the historical York Minster, we offer the ultimate in relaxation and pampering with treatments and massages that indulge, enhance and emphasise the importance of the five senses:- sight, taste, smell, hearing and touch.
The fragrance of specially blended oils, herbs and spices fills the air so your body and mind immediately relax in anticipation of the exotic experience that awaits.
Ancient Thai rituals using native herbs, spices and aromatic oils inspire our extraordinary range of 5 Senses Spa treatments.
Massages are designed to reduce stress and promote relaxation and healing. We provide many different massages for the whole body and individual massages for the feet and legs, hands and arms and back neck and shoulder. Hot stone massages are proving very popular and therapeutic.
We also provide traditional Thai massage with Thai therapists who trained at the What Po training academy at the temple of the Reclining Buddha in Bangkok.
Facials are individualised to meet the clients' skin type and hand or foot massages are performed whilst the face mask is on to further relax the clients.
All body and face treatments include a foot ritual whereby the feet are cleaned with lemongrass scented water as Thai people believe that negativity clings to the soles of the feet (it is also wonderfully relaxing).
Our face and body products are also imported from Thailand. The Thann range is exclusive to 5 Senses Spa and no where else within the UK (the nearest retail outlet is Paris). The sister product to the Thann range, Harnn products are beautifully packaged and both have been chosen very carefully for their natural ingredients and fabulous results.
Theraputic wraps are on offer to cleanse the body of impurities using natural, organic body masks.
The Spa also provides fabulous manicures and pedicures using the Nailiques and Essie ranges of products, which provide fabulous results whilst theraputically treating the skin and nails. Clients love our Spa pedi chair which has a built in foot spa and massages the spine whilst the treatment takes place.
Following treatments, clients are encouraged to sit awhile in our Buddha room and enjoy refreshments-lemongrass, chrysanthemum and lavender teas.
